Record Store Day 2024

Hi there! Saturday 4/20/24 is RECORD STORE DAY! This is a day of celebrating independent shops with exclusive, limited edition vinyl releases. As these titles are limited in quantity, the day usually draws big crowds of collectors and vinyl enthusiasts. We are not doing music or book trades on 4/20 as it is one of our busiest days of the year. We are always happy to look at your trades but ask that you not bring them on 4/20.

What time should you arrive? The start of the line varies year to year, but in 2021, the first person in line told me they had arrived at 6:30am to ensure they got the number one spot. This year that could be earlier - or later! It all depends on who comes and how early they want to line up.

An employee will arrive at the shop and start handing out numbers to guarantee your position in the queue around 8:15am. After you receive your numbered ticket feel free to grab a coffee at The Coffee Room or State Street Kitchen, return to your car for a break, etc., but be back in front of the shop around 8:50. This year our doors open an hour early at 9am. Customers will be admitted a few at a time. From 9-11am we are only handling RSD sales - after 11am, regular shopping will commence.

There is no limit to the number of Record Store Day items you can purchase, but until the original line has fully passed through the shop (usually around 10:30/11) there are no duplicates allowed - each individual can purchase only 1 copy of each title. Store credit may not be used for RSD purchases and all RSD sales are final.

You can call ahead or message me to ask about an RSD item, but we (and every participating store) sign a pledge not to hold anything. RSD is always first come, first served. If you send an inquiry I’ll be able to tell you what I ordered/what we have, but remember: due to the nature of limited edition releases and allocation between over 1300 different stores, there are some items that I ordered 20 of and I might only receive 2.

I would certainly hate for anyone to wait outside all morning only to find out our store didn’t even get copies of what they were looking for. Please do not hesitate to ask me what I have received. I want you to get the things you want!!

Some titles originally slated for release on Record Store Day have been moved or canceled altogether, possibly due to production delays. Please check recordstoreday.com for updates.

Record Store Day was born in 2008 as a communion of music lovers and a celebration of the neighborhood vinyl shop. I hope to see you on 4/20, and I hope you can spend some time in our quaint little town supporting small business. And most of all, I hope you have fun!
